DUV-xA-T Series

Series description

LIT DUV-xA-T systems are designed for application in potable and process water disinfection projects. The UV disinfection projects for these applications in general have water quality parameters which result in high UV-c transmission of the water. The LIT DUV-xA-T system design enables optimum UV intensity distribution in the UV reactor in accordance with the application specific high UV transmission. The models of this series are developed based on high-power, high-efficiency UV-c lamps and have all components integrated in a compact stainless steel chamber with a separate electrical cabinet. DUV-xA-T units are designed and manufactured according to international standards for UV disinfection of potable water such as DVGW and ÖVGW.

Application

LIT DUV-xA-T series units are applied to water disinfection at:

  • Commercial and municipal water supply systems;
  • Aquaculture applications;
  • Agriculture;
  • Swimming pools;
  • Pharmaceutical industry;
  • Food and beverage industries;
  • Hospitals, hotels and restaurants;
  • Electronic industry.

Advantages

  • Reliable disinfection with low energy consumption;
  • High-power amalgam lamp technology;
  • Continuous UV monitoring and control by a highly selective calibrated UV sensor;
  • Extended lamp operating lifetime;
  • Easy operation and maintenance;
  • Compact design in combination with large flow capacities;
  • High reliability and long service life of reactor body and system components.

Principle of operation

The UV reactor of DUV-xA units has longitudinal geometry with bottom or side inlet flanges and side outlet flanges. Water enters the reactor and is exposed to germicidal radiation, which destroys bacteria and viruses. The UV lamps are isolated from treated water by special fused quartz sleeves with a high transmission coefficient for ultraviolet radiation (>95%). After UV treatment the water doesn't contain any active micro-organisms dangerous to health. The water is instantly ready for use.

UV Dose

DUV-xA units ensure high UV dose in a wide range of water transmission values. The minimal required dose is guaranteed over the lamp life taking into account lamps aging and quartz sleeves fouling.

UV lamps

All units are equipped with high-intensity amalgam lamps assuring long service life and enhanced UV-C output. The amalgam UV lamp produced by LIT has a temperature stable operation and is not sensitive for fluctuations in the water temperature. The UV intensity output is maintained constantly over the operational life of the UV lamp. The design UV-intensity at the end of lamp life guarantees effective disinfection during the whole operation period of the DUV-xA-T units. The applied UV lamps enable the UV system to be equipped with an energy saving UV dose regulation system

UV sensor

As required by the international regulations, all DUV-xA units are equipped with a UV-radiation intensity sensor; it allows the UV dose to be monitored continuously and alarm signals to be generated when the UV dose drops lower than the necessary level.

Control System

The PLC based control system continuously monitors the UV intensity inside the UV reactor and the status of each individual UV lamp, showing elapsed operating time. All data are displayed on the LCD panel. The stainless steel reactor body has a IP65 protection. The DUV-xA-T control system allows for integration of an energy saving UV dose pacing system.

Cleaning system

The LIT DUV-xA-T units can be equipped with chemical and/or mechanical cleaning systems. Organic and inorganic deposits are prevented to accumulate on the lamp protective quartz sleeves. Both concepts provide in-situ cleaning, without having to move the UV-lamp-modules from the reactor. The Mechanical cleaning can be operated automatically at an application specific frequency, without interrupting the disinfection process.
